Falling Off The Helm

Falling Off The Helm

A Poem by Graveyardfuck

I feel empty and alone,
"Knock, knock" on my Mind,
Is anyone home?
I trace scars on my arms,
Wishing for something,
For a new start.
Numbness is like a roach,
Crawling through my brain,
Invading my thoughts; threatening to erase my name.
I'm alone,
Alone
Trying to get used to it but I can't.
I can't comprehend,
That I don't need boys,
Or do I?
I said I'm done,
Done with men,
But I lied...
And I continue to lie,
Over and over again.

Am I obsessed?
That's absurd.

Breathe.
I'm tired of heart break,
The crash anticipated after the fall,
The dust left in their wake.
But...
I love the sense of importance I feel,
The secret embracing,
The genuine smile...
Can't I just be loved for a while?
Heart set on repeat,
Mind set to sworn off guys,
Only to become broken again,
Stuck in the quicksand of lies.
I'm convinced to hope,
And after I do,
Every thing falls apart,
And I'm still not over you.

Moving piece, darling. Such meaning to each individual word and picture.

The use of images really puts the verse in focus. Well thought out and put together.

Sometimes we never need anyone but ourselves.

really well done - intimate, articulate, lets the pain tell its own story

OMG I am in love with this. I have always thought that pictures and words have a place together and you did is beautifully. This hits home for me and I hope that that there is still a way we can go on hoping even if it is for something or someone else or f*ck even just for ourselves. Great Great write :)

i think you could amp up the actual poetic concept here, but the experience as a whole got the message across pretty well! i relate and completely feel your pain- keep writing through your struggles, girl.

This succeeds, I think, more as a photo-poetic montage but certainly that tattered thread of message, though frayed and thin, does come through... in the end. Much better than that other one that will remain nameless (for shame).

It really sounds like you're going through a rough time, we've all been there. Trust me even though it doesn't seem like things are ever going to improve they will. This is a beautiful write and I'm glad that you can share your fears and thoughts with us. Hang in there, and if you ever need to talk, I'm here :)
