Weekend Plans

I

t was a Friday afternoon when Charlie was walking on the parking lot of his office on his way to his car, he had a great job as a psychologist or family counselor, and of course he had a hard time trying to resolve teenagers problems or even kids problems, but he really enjoyed helping people to be happy, he was a happy-positive person, and so was his three-year relationship girlfriend Tanya, whom worked as a Ballet instructor at a famous Seattle dance institute.

Those days Charlie had been thinking a lot about proposing marriage to Tanya, but he felt the right time and the right place haven’t cone just yet, but as he was about to start his car, suddenly he thought about the outside of the city, the nature, the woods, the open sky, the shiny stars, what else could be more perfect?  So he called Tanya right away and asked her to have dinner with him that night, where he was planning to mention the camping-out thing, because she wasn’t exactly the kind of girl that loved the nature, and Charlie knew it perfectly, if he would ask her by phone she would simply said No but she did accepted the dinner invitation. As Charlie hung up the phone his smile was so big that even it was something unusual for him, it wasn’t the kind of smile he would give to his patients everyday or even to his relatives or closest friends, this smile was something special, and he was excited about the weekend.

Tanya was at her apartment among her bedroom mess she had, because of trying on every single dress she had on the closet, she was about to go crazy, but the right dress finally came, it was a beautiful strapless brown dress she had bought about a year ago, but haven’t use it yet, so it was the perfect one, she fixed her hair, makeup, everything to look perfect for a special night, wait a minute, special?  Or that was what Tanya had in mind, she was thinking of that night as the possible special dinner where Charlie finally will propose to her, she was wrong, but they loved and enjoying being together anyway.

So when Charlie finally arrived she was already waiting for him, but like all girls, she wasn’t done yet, and Charlie knew this have always happened so he had no problems waiting for his love at all. When she finally came out, she was looking stunning or at least that was Charlie’s face was showing, he even opened the car door for her as a gentleman, not before giving her a sweet kiss, and telling her how gorgeous she was looking and she told him the same. So they headed out to the fancy restaurant that he was reserved for a sort of special night.

So there they were at this fancy restaurant seating on a fancy table decorated by a white tablecloth and two grey silver cloth napkins, and of course a candle. Everything seemed so perfect, the food, the place, the music, or that was Tanya was thinking until Charlie told her about his weekend plans, but he was expecting her to react like she did. “The woods?” she replied as she was imagining herself outside with the typical Seattle rainy weather and in case this wasn’t enough the wild animals that must live up there in the woods, she just couldn’t think positive, even if she tried, but then when the night seemed to be ruined Charlie went to the rescue with his great sense of humor.
