First Step

First Step

A Chapter by Kylie Eura Komori

Rosalix was running, she was sprinting through the streets, desperate to get away from the club, away from all those eyes and their looks of fear. After she had taken down that monster, time seemed to slow down. She looked at the crowd surrounding her, every one of them had that same emotion. Fear, disgust, and horror, all o them had it, what hurt most was that Shia was the same as well , retreading from her as if she was also a monster. She had never seen anyone look at her that way, yet it seemed so familiar, as if she's seen it so much that it became an everyday thing. That pain in her chest blazed hot and then froze into ice. She did the only thing she could do, she ran.

Now she's out in the streets, leaving the city behind, and going home. She knew she couldn't stay, she had to leave immediately! She reached her house and headed straight to her room to get what she needed. She put everything she needed into the bag she just got from Shia as a gift. The bag being one with the ability to hold an infinite amount of things and ran to the side garage. In there was her pride and joy, the project she put her heart and soul into. Her custom made Dimension Rider she had built over the five years.

She scavenged for parts and saved money for some to make the engine. The design for it was her own, it was an original. It had two functions, a bike mode and a board mode. The bike mode was meant for dimension traveling and long distances, the board mode meant for quick getaways and short distances. She had it on bike mode at the moment, it was a sleek black with white trimming. It's two wheels were white with silver linings. The body of it was slimmer than a normal motorcycle and the steering system used handles that were close to the body.

Her favorite features were the wings and the computer system. The wings were each a different color, one was black, the other white. The black one was designed to be similar to a dragon wing with scales. The white one was an angel wing with detailed feathers. Both were made out of metal and provided balance and steering for the ride. The computer system was designed by her as well, it was voice activated only, specifically her own voice, when the screen was on, the hologram of it surrounded her in a half circle, all the information she needed in each world would be accessible and a map was provided.

Quickly, she put her bag over her shoulder like a purse and stocked up on some food she had in her garage to be eaten for emergencies or blackouts. She then pushed it out of the garage and saw someone standing in front of it's entrance. It was Shia, her breath was coming out in pants and her feet looked like they had bruises, meaning she ran all the way here in those killer heels.
"Shia!" Rosalix yelled. "What are you doing here?!" She needed an explanation but before she could get it, Shia ran towards her and gave her a huge hug. Rosalix was dumbfounded, she hadn't expected this.
"I'm so sorry!!" Shia sobbed. "I'm sorry that all I did was stare at you that way." She released Rosalix and looked her in the eye. Shia's make-up was slightly ruined and her eyes were red and puffy.
"I shouldn't have betrayed you like that. I hope you can forgive me." She begged, sincerity deeply saturated in her apology. Rosalix felt that dull ache in her chest disappear. She smiled at her close friend and embraced her as well.
"It's okay. I'm just glad I could see you before I go and clear this whole mess up with you." She truly was happy that her friend hadn't rejected her.
"Thanks." Shia said. They broke their hug and stared at each other. "Rosalix, I know you have to leave town now no matter what. I'll tell Mrs. Archane  what happened." She then reached into her purse and pulled out a bag. "Please accept this as an apology as well." Rosalix took it and inside was money, enough to make a small fortune.
"Shia! I can't take this, it's too much!" Rosalix protested.
"You must! I couldn't bear to think of what might happen if you didn't have enough money and end up in trouble!" She put inside Rosalix's bag and gave her a determined stare. "Please take it, as a token of our friendship."
Knowing there was no point, Rosalix accepted it. She smiled at her friend one last time and boarded onto her ride. She put her black helmet on and looked back at Shia, who was crying again, the pain of might never seeing her friend ever again growing inside.
"We'll see each other again! I promise!" Rosalix yelled as she started her engine. Shia smiled and waved as Rosalix took off. She waved back and vowed to one day come back for her friend. She picked up the pace and rode to the station. It was designed as a normal train station but there were entrances onto each platform for different Dimension Riders. At the front, she paid her fee to travel and boarded onto one of the platforms and inputted her destination. Suddenly, a portal opened in front of her down the runway. Her engine roared and she was going at full speed to her first destination: Atlanea, the city of oceans.
