A poem inspired by the themes of James Cameron's brilliant brainchild "Avatar" This poem holds the message of saving our Earth so that it too can be beautiful as it should be.

Learn To See

People are blind to all that I see
Only a select few see just like me
I see the world, the great and the small,
I see the truth of this life, I see it all

People around me walk around confused and lost
they do things to this world, not knowing the cost
thinking that it’s nothing, that they won’t hurt anyone
but they do not see what has happened; our own destruction has begun

People tear away all that this world stands for
not knowing just what the future has in store
not knowing that their actions make things harder
for our children, who in a stormy sea have no safe harbor

Because their world was wrecked by those who came before
and try as they might, this world is unable to be restored
to a former glory, untouched by humans and their corruption
before them, this world was impervious to destruction

So I stand and I say “No” to all those who would harm our Great Mother
Without her shelter, her protection, new life we will not discover
because people look for a reason to hurt and destroy
lost is the innocence of each young girl and boy

Who loved our Mother Earth for all that she is
We need to understand, to help save her and this
this place we call home, our planet, our safety
this movement has been around, long before me

I want to teach others to see, to see her as I do
as a living being that we do not control, do not rule
Only then can we truly live, respecting from where we came
and we must teach future generations to understand, to do the same

So that they may see our Great Mother for her strength, for her beauty
to protect her as she protects us, this is our duty
we owe so much to her, our beloved Earth, this much is clear,
for without her balance, her shelter, we would not be here
