Hero

Hero

A Poem by Astrid Wanye
"

R.I.P Kids and Teachers caught in the shooting of Connecticut- God Bless The heroes who saved lives that day and the families of the deceased <3

"
Usually,
We tend to think of heroes
As people with capes,
Superpowers,
And a cool name,
But you know what,
A hero could be inside of you
They don't have to have capes,
or superpowers,
or cool names,
They use their hearts,
Words,
And acts of kindness
to show what they can do
Be that person
Because whatever you do
You don't want to look
Back on you life,
And think,
"if only...."

So true. It's a beautifully written write. Heros are not just the ones with powers. Good meaning! Loved it.

This reminds me of a song I sang in choir for my school's graduation we talked about Hero's as well. Well the song we did was called "A Tribute to Hero's"
Many different songs, but good job writing this because this is true. Many of us forget that we have real life Hero's.

First of all, I can't say enough how grateful I am of my friend Miranda showing me this.

This piece does great justice to the lives of those that lost their lives in that elementary school. I was hurt when I watched the live news coverage of the shooting in class - I actually had to leave school. I think we, the American people, were so caught up in the overall tragedy and sorrow and grieving brought about from this event, that we see those who died as victims. And while they were indeed victims, they were also so much more. They were brothers, sisters, sons, daughters, mothers, grandmothers, aunts, cousins, nieces, and nephews. Above all, though, they were heroes. Unlikely heroes, but heroes nonetheless.

This poem is wonderfully written, and also wonderful in ideas. I loved the line, "A hero could be inside of you".

Great job and great write on a horrible, awful event.

This has such an amazing message in it! I don't have a favorite because the whole poem was amazing! simple, yes, but amazing nonetheless!
It's so sad what happened to the Connecticut victims.
My teacher decorated her door as a tribute to all the victims. She had a sign above the door that said, "It t'was 11 days till Christmas, 20 angles got their wings and 6 heroes were taken all too soon." And she had all the children's and adult's names written in hearts with angel wings. It was so heart felt, that I had almost started crying, and your poem has done the same! Great, great job!

This is beautiful, and your words are very true. This was a beautiful tribute to all the heros in this sad situation.

this is very touching. Simple, yet powerful words to shine a light in a dark night. Thank you for sharing this piece, I loved it. As a superhero fan myself, I try to find the heroism in the tiniest acts of everyday kindness. Well done!
