My Wish I'd Wish

If by some grand impossibility
The wish I wish the most were true
Not for power, fame, or gold I'd ask
But other minds from which to view

Broadened sight would bring humility
Sudden wealth, but disillusion
Peace of mind is sharpened vision
Fame and power, but illusion

True wealth is measured not in gold
But of heightened sense of being
And of power, man is measured not
But minds to which he's garnered meaning

So, you see, he who has truth has power
A man with peace of mind has health
Men of fame are rarely sound of mind
But men of sight are men of wealth

So, if by some rare coincidence
One wish I wish were granted
I'd wish not for impulsive thrill
But for my sight to be enchanted

Totally agree! Isn't it what we seek the whole of our lives? To have a peace of mind.. But then I think people seek what they don't have at that time or what they value most..to some its wealth while to others(like me) peace and harmony.. Thought-provoking write!!

It speaks volumes of the humanity of the author to seek not wealth in materials but riches in understanding.
The double use of 'health' caught my eye C.I. and I wondered if this could not be better worded to avoid same.
Apart from that this is an eye-opening piece which sets the reader's mind to question their own ratio of materialism to humanism.
