As the Quiet Fades

As the Quiet Fades

A Poem by Cerebriation

Peace and quiet fadin’
Riots takin’ hold
Flames illuminating
Blindin’ orange red and gold

Ev’ry step it pulls away from me
Same as yesterday
Fallin’ farther from awakening
Fallin’ far away

And it goes
And it goes
But it was just under my nose

And it shows
And it shows
Mountin’ fear as weakness grows

Peace and quiet fading
Riots takin’ place
Sparks illuminating
Shocks that's strong enough to taste

Every breath is strainin’, chokin’ me
The same again t’day
All the haste has scarred and broken me
Stretchin’ me all the…all the way

Watch it close
Watch it close
Progression haltin’, movement froze

Watch it slow
Watch it slow
Forget all that you’ve come to know

Peace and quiet fadin’
Riots takin’ hold
Flames illuminating
Blindin’ orange red and gold

it reads very lyrically C.I.
I like the device you employed (almost like stammering) to emphasise being stretched metaphorically. I might have wrote thus
'...s-t-r-e-e-e-t-c-h-e-d' but it would have trivialised it.
Good write.
