We are the Machine

We are the Machine

A Poem by Cerebriation

We are the machine
The scary war machine
We snatch 'em up by their collar
Bound 'em tighter if they scream
They're bled of every dime and dollar
Into the machine
The scary war machine

They go right in, soon as we find 'em
Down the line, one at a time
Into the war machine
The big 'ol war machine
Zip, Zip

Dehumanized and paralyzed
Strip 'em down, naked and bare

We separate and organize
By height, by weight, by eyes and hair

Enumerate, desensitize
Spoon fed their thoughts, beliefs, and cares

Gated, watched by prying eyes
In bed, at work, in open air

We are the machine
We are the machine

Who's that at the helm,
behind the operator's desk?
Who put him there upright and square,
with shiny emblems on his chest?

What'd it take to get him there,
behind controls in soldier's dress?
What agony did he endure,
to turn his gaze as blank as death?

He's from the machine
Out of the scary war machine
They snatched him upward by his collar
Did they bind him? Did he scream?
Was he a worker or a scholar,
'Fore he was reamed
Into the scary war machine

Is it too late for convalescence?
Can we save the captured ones?

Make haste. It's time for convalescence.
Now or never. Fight or run.

Converge and gather. We're the many
They are but few with no machine.

They're far outnumbered. We are plenty.
It's time we kill the big machine.

Hold fast together. Don't get divided
We are, we are, we are the machine

I found this one is Pink Floyd-esque Justin.
I think it was Eisenhower who warned the American people (and by extension the world) about the Military Industrial Complex before completing his tenure as POTUS.
How prophetic.
Your generation has seen that monster at its zenith and now it's turning on its creators.
Powerful antiwar piece!
