Keep it simple

Part five of my album writing challenge

All I want to do is carve your name into a tree,

Planted by me, or some other impossibility.

I have planned it out, only three things that i’ll need,

That’s a seed, a dream and a working time machine.

I will fly it back, to the bar where we will meet,

It’s nineteen ninety three, and there’s no sambucca to be seen.

I’ll will ask your father to take care of it for me,

He’ll agree, I’ll see him once again in twenty seventeen.

Maybe You should just.. Keep it simple son,

Just tell her you love her and you can’t go wrong.

There are infinite ways to speak your mind,

and none of them wrong, so save the time.

Just keep it simple.

Maybe I’ll direct, an advert for your television set,

Subliminal images, for the subconscious to collect.

A plethora of imagery that only you would get,

Bikini clad models, favourite colour, matching set.

An outline of a sun in dots, for your mind to connect,

Peter pan posters, Karaoke posers, midnight level threat.

An image of me, this will provoke, I hope and I suspect,

It’s over budget with a catchy jingle and it’s worth every cent.

Maybe You should just.. Keep it simple son,

Just tell her you love her and you can’t go wrong.

and none of them wrong, so save the time.

I could find a pearl for you, an easy thing to do,

But the best of pearls, I can conclude are found on jupiters moon.

In the deepest crevice of the deepest of lagoons,

I’ll only need a rocket ship and a submarine to look.

I’ll ask the locals for a map or a semblance of a clue,

They’ll decline at first until I share a photo of you.

Their skin might be blue, but their hearts would feel so full,

They’ll show me the lagoon, only the best will do.
