A Soldier's PrayerA Poem by DaisygirlWorld war 2A Soldier’s Prayer Until the day Death parts us all To earth or flame we all must fall Each and all must rot or burn Young and old all take their turn There is no spring of eternal life Such is the world’s continued strife And as my mortal struggle ends I hope someday the world might mend This is the day Death comes for me I refuse to utter a single plea I follow silently to my grave In my final moments I will be brave We fight for peace we fight for love Until one side lays down the glove For our families lives we’ll die By solemn grey stones graves we lie Now I beg to you and beg to yours For your life we gave up ours So do not forget our sacrifice And may the world heed this advice A fight that lasts for years and years Will take away all you hold dear So in our memory in our name Stop the fight and take peace over fame Upon our souls I beg you swear Promise that your time will bear The weight of those awful blasts And that our deaths shall be the lasts© 2015 DaisygirlAuthor's Note
