Two Tools

Two Tools

A Poem by Daisygirl
"

Going through some of my older stuff...

"

Blank piece of paper.

You sharpen your pencil.

But what tool will you use?

The paper is pure white.

Untouched.

But what is not?

What will be your canvas?

What will be your tool?

Two choices.

Two escapes.

But what cannot be erased?

A word or a line

Two tools.

Two choices.

What door will you open.

What key do you hold?

Black piece of paper.

Untouched.

Unmarred.

But what will you choose?

Both.

Colour splashes the page.

Runs over it in rivers and taints the white.

You look down at the paper.

The mess you have made.

There's often less of a difference between the two than we think.
