Moonpath

The moon

Hangs

Fat and full

Amidst the infinite void

Of darkness

That presses against it

But its light

Gentle

Cool

Serene

Pushes the fingers of darkness

Away

Giving off

Its glorious

Golden

Light

Freely

Into the depths of the forest.

And deep in the tangled wood

Through the mirage

Of muddled shadows

And mystery

Through the myriad

Of untamed life

The doe

Slips along
Silently

Unseen.

And with the grace of the wind

Unpredictable

Yet elegantly lovely

In its wild beauty

She larks along

And ever so nimbly

She negotiates

The confusing twists

And inevitable turns

With cool, swift grace.

Refined and lovely,

She pauses

In the sea of shimmering grass

Of a clear, cool meadow

Poised delicately

Beneath the golden moon.

Wild, untamed spirit

Contained in the grace

Of this exquisite

Sleek

Creature.

Then suddenly

A crackle

In the foliage

A mere shift

In the brush beyond

Caught only

By her wise

Deep

Eyes

And the trigger

Is set off 

A burst of speed

A rush of hooves

And she is gone

Lost in the shadows

Guided only by

The rich

Full

Moon.

 

Author's Note

This poem sproinged into my mind one night, looking at the full moon one clear night. I wrote this on the spur of the moment. XD
