The Reunion

Chapter 1 : The Reunion

Summer was already over and Hikari Aiha, 16 will enrolled as a second year at Hokuto High school, the alarm clock is ringing. She immediately turn it off and get ready for school. She wear her school uniform and grooms her hair. Hikari’s mother calls her for breakfast, she finishes grooming her hair. As she takes her school bag, she sees a photo frame. It is a photo of a boy of her middle school.

Before she takes her bag and goes to breakfast she says “I’m going now, ”. At the dining table her mother, Yuzuka Aiha says to Hikari to enjoy her time in high school.

She went to school after finishing her breakfast, on her way there her mother’s words is still in her head. She then take out a necklace that she always bring with her. The necklace has a shape of a half heart. The necklace is a symbol of her promise with a boy in her middle school since the boy moved out of town. Both of them holds two necklaces with half of heart for each one, Hikari got the right side and the boy got the other one. These necklaces are called the reunion necklace, the reason for the named was because when the two necklaces reunite with each other the diamond on the necklaces will shine the same colour as a sign the match between the two people and it will not shine if one of them is not the original one. This shows that the necklaces only have one paired each and can’t be replaced.

Hikari remembers that Haruya, the boy she made that promise to one said that if they meet again he would said something and reunite the two necklaces and they would become a couple. She then meet up with her two best friends that was Saika Hitomi, Raika Suzumi. Saika is her best friend since middle school and knew pretty much everything about Hikari, except for the promise. Hikari never told anyone about it, both of them enrolled in the same school, they met Raika during the first year of high school. Hikari also see Kazuma Furuya, a close friend of Haruya, the boy she made that promise to 5 years ago. She calls for him “Hey, Furuya-kun.”.

He look at her and just walks away. Every time Hikari wants to talk to him, he always ran away, ever since Haruya moved away he always avoiding other people, the first three years Haruya moved he was perfectly normal but the year after that Kazumi started to change because he lost contact with the one he trusted the most. It maybe because he worried something terrible had happen to him. The two of them had a history together, their bond was thick as blood. The bell than rings, the first session is about to start. The four of them is in the same class that is 2-A. When, Hikari and her two best friends walk into the class they see many familiar faces and most of them are Hikari and Sayaka’s middle school friends.

Hikari is the class representive. The homeroom teacher, Haruka Sayumi or they usually calls her Sayumi-sensei, enters the class. Before she could begin the class, she introduces the class to a new transferred student. She asks the student to come in. As the student walks into the class, All the student in the classroom look at the new guy even Kazuma look at him.

When, Hikari look at him she feels like it is him, she think it’s the boy that made the promise with her. The teacher than ask him to introduce himself to the class. He introduces himself “Hello, my name is Haruya Kirizaki, I just transferred here from Nagasaki, please to meet you all.” And finish it with a bow. Hikari still believes it is him even though his last name isn’t the same, and he looks totally different than the Haruya she knew. The Shizuma Haruya/ Haru-kun (we will call the boy 5 years ago by these names to avoid future confusion) she knew was small and looks like a weakling but this Haruya looks totally opposite from that one, He’s a lot taller and more stronger. Hikari then look at Kazuma because he spent  a lot more of time knowing Haruya than her, Kazuma look on his face is speechless he’s thought is the same as hers.

The class start to be noisy with gossiping about Haruya like how handsome he is, thinking about going on a date with him and some other things but no one notice that he looks like the Haru-kun from 5 years ago except for Hikari and Kazumi. Sayumi-sensei then ask everyone to be quiet also say “Apparently, Kirizaki-kun lives near your area, Aiha-chan”“So since you are the class rep and lives near his place I hope you could show him the way at school and outside too, can I count you to do that?” Hikari only agrees in the same time flutters knowing that he might be the boy of the promise. She decided to ask about it during the recess. The class continue until recess.

It is recess time, Hikari is about to invite Haruya to the canteen and show him around the school but before she had a chance to talk to him all the other girls and boys in the classroom crowd around him. They all ask many question to him, all he can do is just smile to them. Before he could answer the questions Hikari pulls his hand and run off to the canteen.

At the canteen, Haruya thank her for saving him from that situation. The way he thank her also the same as Haru-kun, her face turns red and she quickly change the topic by buying some foods. They eat at the same table. After eating, she show him around the school. She show him the gym, lab, teacher lounge, the store room, and other important places that he needs to know.

During their little tour, on Hikari minds was to ask him if he really is Haru-kun but she is too scared to ask. She thinks that if she did ask and she misunderstood  for someone else he would laughed at her. She gain a little courage to ask about it, she talk nervously and the word just can’t come out of her. By the time she ready to do it recess is over, Haruya asks her what she was trying to say, Hikari just tells him that it isn’t important even though her inner side is crying for failing. They just walk side by side to class and the second period starts. Haruya sits between Kazuma and Hikari. During the whole period Hikari and Kazuma mindlessly watching Haruya’s behaviour, most of them are the same with Haru-kun.

School ended, both Haruya and Hikari just finish packing their stuff. Since Haruya lives near Hikari’s place they decided to walk home together plus the teacher sure did tell Hikari to show him around. They go to get their shoes at the locker. When, both of them walk outside the building they see Kazuma leaning against the wall. He ask to talk to Haruya alone at the school backyard.

Haruya tells Hikari to go home first but she refuses. She says that she will wait Haruya here at the in front of the entrance. The two boys go to the school backyard. There, talks with a serious face and says “You’re him right, you’re Shizuma Haruya aren’t you?”. A few minutes later, Haruya comes back to Hikari with a smile on his face. She asks him what they were talking about.

He just tell her that Kazuma just wanted to be friend with him. They leave that discussion like that and walk home together. As both of them in front of Haruya’s house. She realized that house was Haru-kun’s house. As she was spacing out remembers the time both of them that is Haru-kun. She tells Haruya that her house is just front ahead. Hikari say “Well, then it’s getting late I’d better get going, see you tomorrow,  Kirizaki-kun.” Haruya replies “You can just call me Haruya, Aiha-san” She also tells him to just call her, Hikari. Then, Haruya say “Good bye, Aih..   Hikari-chan” Hikari also say “Okay, Haruya-kun.” Both of them walk into their own house and promise each other to go to school together tomorrow.
