![]() Chapter 1A Chapter by KitsueThe sun crossed the tips of the mountains in a momentary blinding white light, before it's fingers touched the tips of the valley trees. Birds lazily lifted their heads from upon their breast. Stretching their wings, fluffing their feathers and shaking the light dew from their bodies. With gentle chirps they roused from their nests and branches. Squirrels started their lazy run from their holes in the trees down to the forest floor to collect their nuts. A family of deer lazily ate the fresh spring grass, as the sun filtered it's golden rays through the canopy. Arlette, a young huntsman quietly stalked through the forest. At 6'4” it's hard not to be noticeable while walking through a forest, but he had managed it, being invisible to all eyes. He had black hair braided to his calves. Cobalt eyes glittered with the thrill of the hunt. He wore a gentle formfitting huntsman outfit that showed off the every muscles that decorated his body. A sword was held naked in his hands. The sword was four feet long with a width of two inches. It's sheath lay down his back, so that when the long sword was hidden his hair covered the hilt. He stopped and stretched, the soft leather of his outfit sighed. A few feet away his twin sister Arless had also stopped. She wore a similar outfit. Her hair was a deep auburn, held in a tight ponytail. She was 3 inches shorter then her brother. Her weapon of choice was a cross bow, as well as a long bow. For now, she had the longbow of ash and arrows of maple. The quiver dangled upon her waist. There were twenty-nine arrows in the quiver and one knocked against the bow. She looked at her brother and sighed. “I doubt the boars are up yet.” She said releasing the tension on the bow. “I told you were not looking for boars, I saw something fall into the forest.” He stuck the sword into the ground. He leaned into the hilt and sighed. “I estimated the wrong point of landing.” “Brother, the deer, they aren't eating in the usual spot.” She sounded alarmed. She drew back the the string on her bow pointing it at the familiar grazing spot. Arlette pulled up his sword and walked to her side. With slow quiet steps they converged on the spot and aimed at what lay there. © 2008 Kitsue |
