![]() PrologueA Chapter by KitsueIn this world there is a balance of good and evil. A balance that all respect and define. Black and white, night and day, it's represented forever in different ways. Upon this planet however, it's separated into realms. The realm of light, and the realm of darkness. A dividing line marks where one ends and the other begins, and as their names say, they are forever bathed in their element. Those who live in the light fear and despise the darkness. It holds mysteries and dangers. Those who dwell in the dark wish for the light. For centuries the inhabitants of the dark have begged for safety in the light, and for centuries they have been refused. Low, is a boy, simple and plain as that. Short honey brown hair brushes the top of his shoulder. Innocent blue eyes dance upon his small face. He's barely seventeen, with a height of 5'5”, but already, he's on the journey of his life. He was guardian of secrets that could change both realms. He traveled the realm of light for years, aiding each council, but seeking aid as well. With threat to his village due to war, he needs strong allies to protect it. Even as provides them with aid and support in their struggles they refuse to aid him, dashing his hopes of saving his own home. As he flies on the back of his griffin, he feels waning hope and gripping despair. “Shara, what are we to do?” He asks. The beast squawks soothingly, and turns an amber eye to him. Nature, is a mysterious women, whose moods are unpredictable, and tantrums are random. This time, her anger came in the devilish form of a tempest. Shara's wings hit the current of wind and was thrown back rearing against the wind.
Constantly, Low was told to use a saddle and harness when aboard the griffin. That one day he would be thrown from her back due to his carelessness but he refused to make his companion uncomfortable with the leather and buckles, now he wished he listened. He was thrown from the griffins smooth back a plummeted to the awaiting forest below.
He fell against branches and although they slowed his descent he was left battered and bruised. He finally hit earth, his head making impact upon the hard ground followed by his shoulders, torso, and the rest of his body. He lay unconscious in the fading light of night. The approaching dawn would find him, hopefully. © 2008 Kitsue |
