Winter Dance

Winter Dance

A Poem by Kitsue
"

poem I thought of while reading manga

"

The last golden leaves
Dance on the wind
Laying their hands
On the earth weary with sleep

The music comes with night
A sonata in the moonlight
Calling it’s first dancer to the stage
Ushering it with the wind

It’s starts with one
Crystallized, perfect, graceful
Dancing down in a spiral
Allowing the evening breeze to court it

When finally it sits
Upon the sleeping earth
The wind gives a final coax
Wanting one more dance but leaves as the crystal fades

Then from the heavens dances more
Their dance as smooth as the music of night
The crystals twirl and spiral
Happily trading partners at the wind command

Then they touch ground
They pile on their comrades
And as they fade to white
They flutter into final death

The dance continues
Through the night
And as the sun rises
The white crystals glitter silver

The crystals now a fine powder
Dance with silver jewels
Soft is their light
Harsh is their burn

The nights sonata fades
Replaced by the dawn’s melody
Which drifts to noon’s symphony
Then passes to dusk’s waltz

Then when the sonata rises
The dance starts again
A myriad of contenders
Livening the deathly chill
