Chapter Two

Cali's heart rate sped up rapidly as if venom was making its way to her heart. 

The Husky gasped and turned around, her eyes flicking nervously. Nothing was there, probably just her imagination. She sighed deeply and saw a flash of grey bound through the bushes out of her sight. She couldn't get a clear image of what it is, so leapt after.

Soon she found herself chasing the figure which was smaller than her. It squeaked as it faced a tree that had fallen down. She scooped the furball up into her jaws, chuckling slightly. She saw it was a small hare, and was now pounding at her chest, or trying to rather. It managed to thump her once, then race from her grip. She gave chase until it disappeared into a hole.

"Cat dung" Cali murmured to herself as she inspected it, giving a small curse. She sniffed at it until her claws were on top, and the roof started to crack. She smiled and wagged her tail, using her paws to dig the hole up. She had never done this before, as she was born into humans, and never hunted. She tried to grab it with her claws, but instead it raced off into the darkness; it was getting dark. "Stranger, get out!".

Cali heard to same voice again, she gasped and turned. Now she was face to face with a slender dog standing a few inches taller than her. Its fur was matted with dirt and dry blood, even a leaf in its fur. It was a lovely white underneath, but had turned to a grey by the looks of it. It was a brute, growling. "This is Sun Pack's territory!" He snapped, lifting his nose in the air. 

"You are a pet, a meer fool!" The insults kept coming out, didn't they? The dog spat at Cali's feet, coming closer. Its shoulders rippled under its fur, giving it a tiger-like structure. Its feet were small, but sharper claws lay on them then Cali had. His teeth were yellow, and bigger than hers, large canines, those of a dragon as it looked. She leapt back a little. "Who are you?" She managed to spit back under her quivering body and mouth. Fear scent was spread around her, making the grey brute snort and smile. "Dawntail. Now, get out" His teeth were slightly bared, but not enough to form a proper threat. Cali wanted to snarl back, but her brain took made her step back.

"Why?" Cali challenged. "You have come to hunt in our territor-" 

"Isn't there enough food?"

"No! You think life is easy! We have to hunt, we gain scars, people don't just feed us once an hour"

"Why not?"

"We are strays, that is why! Get out you hideous little rat!" Dawntail spat again, turning with his tail on the ground. He turned around and glanced at the dog, then sat, blankly staring at the trees in front of them. "My name is Cali" Cali interuppted him with a small sentence, making him bark harshly and turn. "I didn't ask" He barked the words and turned back. "Get out"

Cali blinked and sat, watching the fur on his back until it twisted to show his face. He had amber eyes, she noticed for the first time. His face was a black. A white dog with a black face... The Siberian Husky thought blinking. He turned back, his whiskers were overgrown a little, showing them sprouting from his muzzle. "Dawntail, why do I have to go?" She asked. "This is Sun Pack Territory! Get out! We need our own kill" He growled, getting up and turning to her. "No" She said quietly. "Unless you are part of our pa-" 

"Can I join?" Cali interuppted, looking at him with unusual blue eyes. Her grey and white coat shone as moonlight stretched throughout the forest. "No, only warrior blood can" "Warrior blood?" Cali echoed, wondering- many thoughts filled her head. "Wild dogs!" He spat.

"Who is there Dawntail?" A husky voice came through the trees. Both dogs turned and watched as a larger figure than any of them arrived. "Graymoon" He bowed slightly.
