I saw you happy once

A Story by Naomi

everyday a smile grows between Eliza and Amanda. The two best friends separate for 4 years, when Amanda visits it may be a save for Eliza's life.

"
Knocks buzzed in Amanda's ears, her 11 year old self runs quickly opening the broad tall door. Excitement jumped in Amanda's heart. Seeing a grinning Eliza Amanda tightly hugged her friend at the door. Slipping on Amanda's shoes she closed the towering door and stood next to Eliza.
"I was going to ask you if you wanted to play but seems like you are anxious to even see me." Eliza giggled as Amanda rolled her gleaming eyes. Walking down the porch steps the happy best friends made their way to the nearest park.
"I missed you." Amanda tried her hardest not to sound cheesy.
"I did too, but we are here now together aren't we?" Amanda nodded her brown eyes matched the brown rocks on the park ground. Exchanged the same figity looks the two girls raced to the two still swings. Jumping on the swings they laughed hard they made each other cry a little. The wind blew Amanda's hair back but soon she noticed Eliza deserted the swing. Worried Amanda jumped off looking side to side then warm contact touches her shoulders and a loud yell that echoes "BOO!" Jumping with her heart Amanda's eyes popped out then laughed to see Eliza laughing. Eliza's blue eyes and blond hair made Amanda less stressed knowing that belonged to the beloved friend. Walking around the town the young girls shared memories.
"I wonder what the future may bring us?" Eliza wondered.
"More awesome memories." Smiling Amanda nudged Eliza them pointing to the left of them. The zooming cars went right where Amanda was pointing then a glimps of what Eliza never thought it would be it was a helpless dog.
"Poor doggie." Amanda continued walking she saw Eliza looking right then left repeating that a gap of cars made a way right where the dog was. The dog made a brown and black mixture it's snout pointing down Eliza ran stepping her foot on the street.
"No!" Amanda shocked she tried grabing Eliza's shirt collar but missed by inches Eliza speeding past big and small cars. Finally safely Eliza kneeled down to the dogs height. Staring into the innocent dog Eliza patted the dog. Her heart racing Amanda came from behind her panting.
"Why....why did.... You do ...... That?"
"I can't leave someone lost." Both kneeling down they put out their hands the dog sniffing now wagging its tail.

I really enjoyed this. It made me think about when I was young, the carefree days I had at the park with my friends. Walking through town looking into shops windows but not looking for anything in particular. You've done a good job :-)
