Last breath before dying.

Last breath before dying.

A Poem by Dragon Witch

At the summit of a remarkable rocky outcrop she stands

Senses all alert and straining at the differant inspirations,

tugging at them

Leading them on

motivating her to be even more alert then EVER before.

A cooling breeze plays through her hair

Pushing her forward and ever onwards.

Moonlight casting down upon an angel.

Waiting for what?

Perfection, gratitude, grace?

Listen to the moist breeze as it whispers in the grass

Almost like the lullaby your mother hummed to you,

when you were small.

Comforting and cosy, but a tiny bit sad about what is gone forever.

Her eyes cannot believe the beauty before her in this vast land.

Moonlight pouring down, boundless and free,

Changing everything to seem more beautiful and gracefull

than it ever seemed before.

Magic is in the air with the stars

The wind and the moon joined by an angel just waiting.

Standing beautifully still in this landscape she calls her own.

The breeze tugs at her once more

Whispering sweetly to her one last time to join it ,

as it fly's in freedom and grace.

Standing on tip-toe almost trying to reach the sky,

This angel spreads her wings out as far as they can reach this night...

and jumps.

Gracefully plummeting down the mountinside

her body plummeting endlessly,

but her spirit is soaring!!

She inhales her last, sweet, exhilirating breath

filling her lungs till they almost burst.

In a strange way part of her has died all ready

and she is free.

As the end draws closer,

She holds her last precious, sweet breath.

Hoping to preserve something of it's beauty

and charm within her forever.

Her last precious breath that plummeted with her

Never leaving it's mistresses side.

Finally it is over.

She spreads her wings above her head..

As she dives gracefully into that bottomless pool of cool, serenity

and aqua blue water.

Dazzling as moonlight plays upon its surface.

Below it surface in the deep and dark

the angel still dives, deeper and deeper

In her sleek, gracefull state of ultimate beauty.

At last the water ripples ,

Small rings growing larger

Then she surfaces,

For the most precious breath of all.

Life,

A breath of freedom, happiness

and an ultimate celebration of life via death.

 For just one fleeting moment,

Hers alone.

She will never forget waiting to dive off an endless outcrop

to a dazzling pool of freedom down below.

The true value of one last breath before "dying".

I love how you told a story through your poem. A lot of times, poems are just a way to vent feelings or string words together that, to you, have a deep meaning. It is a hard thing to tell a story through a poem without it being too Dr. Sues or rhyme-ish, but you did it! Through your poem, I could tell there was a lot of meaning behind it - on the edge and out of sight, but still there taunting you. Fantastic job. I enjoyed your details and descriptions!

The act of being reborn... this was beautiful and you used imagery and darkness to personify the elements within the poem. Great write.
