My Thoughts At Half Past Midnight

My Thoughts At Half Past Midnight

A Poem by Drakana Wind

I'm still awake

Working on projects

I should have finished

Several days ago.

The glow of my computer

Cuts through the darkness

Just enough so I can see

The papers in front of me.

My concentration wanes,

As evident by my poetry;

It's half past midnight,

And all I can think of is you.

You're probably asleep now,

Or at least you should be.

So should I, for that matter,

And dreaming of you.

I can't help but wonder

If you are dreaming of me.

Or are you lying awake?

If you are -are you thinking of me?

I wish I could tell you

All that I feel, all that I hold

Deep in my heart,

My heart that is yours.

You are my sun in the clouds.

You give me light, happiness

Amidst the inconsistant fogginess

That settles and lifts in my world.

Without my shyness

I'd tell you everything,

Release all my boundaries

And let you into my world.

Do you think of me at all

The way that I think of you?

I wish I knew, I wish so much;

Some day, I hope, I will know.

Author's Note

Drakana Wind
Okay, this is honestly not my best poem, especially considering that yes, I did write this at around 12:30 in the morning. Whoo-hoo. I'd like to be sleeping now; too bad I'm not done with my homework yet.

I know what this one's about! I really like it, it's a nice, honest piece. I think you started to lose the rhyme scheme at the end, though. Probably because it was 12:30am? Haha, nonetheless, really great writing!
