Someone

Someone

A Poem by Collette Paige

I want someone to love me
but I can't get them to see
that they need a simple key
to see the real me

I want someone to care
or see me and be aware
but I can't get anyone to share
they're love with me, or to treat me fair.

I want someone to think I'm straight
because I'm through with all the hate
but I know hate opens the gate,
to love that just comes late

I want someone to be my friend
who I can let my true self ascend
who doesn't condescend
and helps me mend.

I want someone.

I like how every line rhymed with the next (basically the whole stanza); it was very cute. I do wonder, though, what key do you mean ("they need a simple key/to see the real me"). Also, the last line of the last stanza seems a bit choppy. Maybe if you put it instead as "and who also helps me mend" it might flow easier, but perhaps there's a method to your madness not evident to me?
This is easily relate-able to a lot of people (and not just girls), and for this reason I really like it. This instantly made me think of this song:

Cute, truthful poem.

This was a very good poem. I really got a sense of need for companioship from this poem. The flow between each line was very well done. The words appear well thought out and from the heart.
