My Personal Legacy

My Personal Legacy

A Poem by The Ugly Rose

When I die

Will they remember me?

Will my legacy be written

Upon the memories of the people

To be honest

This life scares me to death.

Death is more adventurous

Than life itself.

When we built these dreams

Dreams of sand

We put our strength

In something so feeble

Something so destructable.

If I carve my name on a wall

Will time whipe it away?

Will people remove it?

Or will it remain forever more?

We can believe and hope

That the legacies we leave behind

Will be remembered

And leave a mark on history

To be the torch in the night

Believe your blood shed will matter

Hope they'll remember you

Even if for a fleeting moment.
