My Mourning Midnight FriendA Poem by Matthew RDo you ever search the face of the moon and find it seems to have a face? A face made up of craters? Well... this is what I see in this face and I saw it when the moon was the closest to us.My friend from oh so far, the High Lord among the stars, no shared words can we say, we're too far away, my friend is sadly a-far. To me he often seems sad, memories of the waking nightmares tired children have had, however once in a while, I believe I see him smile, maybe a child's life has been pulled from the bad. I often want to reach out and comfort him but there are too many miles of air and space separating him from my fingertips, however it makes me more happy when I see that rare smile pass over his glowing white face. I don't know if he can read the words I have written or the expressions my gazing eyes say, when I see his mournful eyes it's little comfort I know but my heart goes all the way.
