A simple set of words

A simple set of words

A Poem by David John Anthony Brown
"

Just how life can be seen and perceived through eyes of one who has seen

"

Life.

We all share it,

we all live it, and we

all breathe it.

We are all just a candle. We are in a room with an open door and open window.

We all search for a spark to ignite us and to keep our flame burning.

But the wind blows, the wind will blow and make the flame flicker some may even go out but never for long.

We are all the candle.

We are all the flame.

But we are also the spark.

We as we burn may be surrounded by darkness but we are the light.

Even when we aren't we still see another candle close by.

No candle better than another.

But we all burn down the string and through the wax.

Whilst searching for something, we will find it.

I have lived not all that long and found what I am looking for but cannot reach it.

For can a candle reach?

Some flames think blowing out another makes theirs burn brighter but it doesn’t, only brings the dark closer.

Should one stand up and burn as bright as he can he will not burn very long.

Some Flames on the candles when they near the end of the string and are running out of wax, will wish for what we can never get. Time.

It is given all at once and taken slowly.

Just a little more string please is what they would ask, that is a wish that cannot be granted.

Sometimes a flame will wish to be near other candles and with his friends others will wish to do something they had not but a flame with regret burns differently.

Most will wish for love through the entirety of the candle burning.

You don’t need to live long and have experience to know.

If you miss it its your fault none others

A friend now some are better some aren’t so but when we go we live and then you part ways with friends you may get the one. One who wasn’t like the others in some way, but he is the one who says hi he came and didn’t forget they are the special ones they have their flaws but they never give up.

You will find that some candles love you and that they always will do

However you don’t know love until you haven’t stopped thinking of them and would do anything just to have a friendly talk.

However there is times when it doesn't go both ways but if you are worrying and trying to find ways of impressing them then that is what will get you them.

Inevitably we will come to the end of the string we will burn up and burn out, inevitably we stare into the abyss that lies before us I'd look and smile and not wish for more string or to be sustained or to have more oxygen for the flame I’d wish to die happy without fear to go where many have gone but yet haven’t gone. To wish happiness to all and mean it to wish the one who sparked you and allowed you to burn a happy life even if they didn’t stay they are always a part of you never will they be lost never will you and when its all the darkest around you your string burnt up and to smile and say that was fun and not have a care in the world.

This was very well done! The whole concept of the candle reminded me of the book Devdas (and the movie) because there's a constant symbol of the girl holding a candle and keeping it burning for her true love and, as long as it burns, he lives but when he dies (spoiler....) he dies. The way you took it was very creative and different from it, though, because you mentioned how one can be brought back by someone else with a friendly spark. Very nicely done there, very imaginative.
Overall, a joy to read. Well done! :)

This was beautiful and I love the candle concept. It is true that from time to time we flicker out and die, only to be brought back by another friendly spark. Very well done.
