Diagonally (Diagon Alley)

Second chapter- This is now truly the beginning of your story into this Universe. Welcome to Diagon Alley. Your wand, robes, books and your own little Bao bun are truly the beginning of Magic.

Note- I will be using Y/N (Your Name) Y/L/N (Your Last Name) and * (For Details)

*Your mum and dad get into the car, waiting for you. Getting in making sure to lock the front door on your way out, you buckle up and get ready for the journey. It’s a long drive dad said, get some shut-eye Y/N we will wake you up once we get there. Doing as I’m told; I begin to close my eyes and dream about Hogwarts. What could it be like? And what is Diagon Alley? *

‘Time passes- 1hour, 2hour, 3hour …’

*Rubbing your eyes, glancing at the clock in the front of the car, 12.32pm, It’s been 4 hours since we have left the house. This has been a long drive indeed. Your dad glances into the inside mirror and see’s that your awake. *

Dad- “Afternoon Kiddo. We are nearly there, couple more hours. I’ll wake u up, go back to sleep”.

Y/N- “Okay dad, it has been a long drive you weren’t joking”.

‘More time passes- 1hour, 2hour …’

*Your dad leans into the back of the car were your laying, gives you a small shake too awake you*

Dad- “Wakey! Wakey! We are here Y/N, time to get up.”

*Yawing and stretching, waking up. Glancing out of the car window, you notice that you’re outside a Pub. You can’t make out what the name of it is, as the sign is black. *

Y/N- “Dad, why are we at a Pub?. I can’t drink, I’m not old enough”.

Dad- “Ahaha, we aren’t here to eat or drink, just come on in and see. This Pub isn’t just a Pub its ‘The Leaky Cauldron’ A very special Pub.”

Y/N- “Okay! Okay! I am coming dad, give me a minute. You have just woke me up.”

*Climbing out the car, grabbing your bag and throwing it on your back. You look up to the blacked-out sign, suddenly noticing that the sign as you, your mum and your dad get closer to the building, flips and gains colour and a name. ‘The Leaky Cauldron.’ You linger at the sign, and mumble to yourself-

Y/N- *Mumbling* “Magical sign means a magical Pub!!”

*Your dad opens the door to the Pub, Squeaking. Everyone in the Pub looks over at you, walking in. Your dad waves at someone near the back of the Pub, and he begins to walk you over to the Gentleman at the far back right table of the bar. Your dad gestures towards the Gentleman, he stands up and you notice one odd thing about him. He’s a Giant, not BFG giant but very tall all the same. He speaks-

Gentleman- “Hello, Bobby! I notice you have someone with you, this must be Y/N. Oh my last time I saw you, you were no more than the size of a Pumpkin.”

Dad- “Hello Rubeus Hagrid, how are you. Been awhile since I last saw you, sorry old chap. I’ve come to ask if you would do us, me, and Joan a favour.”

Rubeus Hagrid- “Bobby of course, what is it?”

Dad- “We, me, and Joan. Can’t get into Diagon Alley anymore, but we know that you can since your still the Keeper of keys and Grounds at Hogwarts.”

Rubeus Hagrid- “Boddy, *nodding towards my mum* Joan, I’ll be honoured to do this favour for you just like I did for your mother and father.”

*Looking towards you, Rubeus locks eyes with your gaze and speaks-

Rubeus Hagrid- “Y/N are you ready to go to Hogwarts, you must be told that it’s very different from any normal school. I warn you because you’re going to be introduced to something not may people believe in. I just hope your openminded.”

*You turn around to look at your mum and dad, gazing into their eyes you say-

Y/N- “Mum, Dad, I love you. I will write to you and send letters. I am going to this school, and I hope I don’t disappoint you.”

Mum- “Aww Y/N you are not going to disappoint us. We are so immensely proud of you. Please write to us as often as you want, and we will always send a letter back.”

Dad- “Exactly Y/N we will be proud no matter what. We will see you at the end of the school year.”

Y/N- “Thanks, Mum. Thanks, Dad. I love you both very much. Ill write every week and I promise to make you proud of me.”

*Rubeus gestures towards you to leave, following him. You do as he says, following out the back door of the Leaky Cauldron into a small little nook, filled with glass bottles and crates full of rubbish. Looking at Hagrid you say-

Y/N- “This is just a nook Hagrid; it goes nowhere.”

Rubeus- “Now, Y/N be open minded remember, everything is not as it seems.”

Y/N- “Your right. Okay. Openminded.”

Rubeus- “That’s better Y/N.”

*Walking towards the back wall of the small nook, Rubeus begins to tap the wall with a long black umbrella in a sort of sequence, Three up and then two across. He repeats this sequence 3 times, never taking your eyes off of the wall. Suddenly the bricks move outwards, opening up to ‘Diagon Alley’. Hagrid spoke-

Rubeus- “Welcome to Diagon Alley Y/N.”

*Walking up the cobble streets of Diagon Alley, past all the different shops. But right at the end of the street, you spot a big white building. Hagrid points and says-

Rubeus- “That’s were we are going Y/N, it’s the Bank.”

Y/N- “That’s a very nice building for a bank Hagrid. But I don’t have an account.”

Rubeus- “Y/N, your Mum and Dad set up one for you. They knew deep down that Hogwarts was going to become your school. There was no other school you were going too; Hogwarts is your destiny.”

Y/N- “Hagrid your right, Hogwarts is my Home!.”

*Getting to the door of the Bank, Hagrid opens the door, and you both walk in. The tiled floors of the Bank made your shoes tap. You notice that the tellers at thee counters were…, were…, you don’t quite know, you ask Hagrid-

Y/N- “Hagrid, what are those people? Things? Oh I don’t know.”

Rubeus- “Y/N they are Goblins, they are the smartest and the most reliable creatures to keep Money safe at the Bank.”

*Walking up to, ‘what you would expect to be the head Goblin’ at the top of the tiled flooring, Hagrid speaks-

Rubeus- “Y/N, here to access the Vault.”

Goblin- “Key?”

Rubeus- “Oh! Yes. I have it….., somewhere…, ah…, here it is. Found it.”

Goblin- “Follow me.”

*Going through a gate with the Goblin, walking up to a rail system with some sort of mine kart on it. Climbing into the metal kart. Speeding down the tracks, flying through the tunnels and past various levels of the Bank. Landing fast and hard at stop sign of level 7, climbing out of the kart and onto the platform Hagrid point towards Vault Number 708. The Goblin uses your key to open the door, as it swings open, reviling a plethora of gold coins. *

Y/N- “That’s mine!”

Rubeus- “Yes it is, it’s for you to use for your books, equipment and uniform for Hogwarts”

*After gaining access to your money, Hagrid had some special business to deal with for Albus Dumbledore, this special business is located in Vault number 713. Hagrid grabbed a small brown bag with something inside, climbing back into the Kart and speeding back up to the beginning of the track. Walking out of the bank and back onto the streets of Diagon Alley, you walk down the cobbled street and find yourself standing outside of Madam Malkin’s Robes for All Occasions. Hagrid gestures and says-

Rubeus- “Right! I’m off for a drink, I’ll leave you to it Y/N, get all your equipment, books, and such.”

*Walking into the Robe shop and standing at the counter, you spot a figure lurking in the back of the shop-

Y/N- “Excuse me; I’m here to try on some robes.”

Madam Malkin- “Ah hello dear, yes, yes. Come on in. Stand on top of that small stool and we will start the fitting.”

*Doing as your told, you stand upon the stool. Getting told to stand straight with your arms out, Madam Malkin starts to measure your arms, chest, waist, hips/legs, and calf’s. After measuring and getting you sorted, walking back to the counter and paying. Your robes are ready to collect in about an hour’s time, thanking Madam Malkin for her time and her skills. Going outside the shop and back onto the streets of Diagon Alley, you walk a little bit more down the path and find ‘Ollivanders’ it’s a wand shop. That is a bit of equipment you need. Opening the door and walking into the shop, you notice that every single inch of every wall is covered in cabinets with every type of wand imaginable. Mr Ollivander speaks-

Ollivander- “Oh. It’s you, I’ve been expecting you Y/N. Welcome to my wand shop, we will find your wand today!.”

Y/N- “I see, thank you Mr Ollivander.”

*Waltzing around his shop for a few minutes, he stops and picks up a box, handing you the wand inside and suggesting that you give it a small wave.*

Ollivander- “Go on then. Give it a wave!”

*Doing as your told, it sparks up and shoots a flame. -

Ollivander- “Oh dear. That is not the one for you.”

*After a few more tries with many different types of wands. Ollivander finds one, handing it too you and explaining the type of wand you have (Chestnut Wood, Unicorn Hair core, 10 ¾ and Unyielding) this is definitely the wand for you. It starts to shine and bring warmth into your hands. Ollivander speaks-

Ollivander- “Very, very curious Y/N. Ver curious indeed.”

*Collecting your wand from Ollivander, Paying what you owe and walking back out of the shop and straight into Hagrid*

Y/N- “Oh! Hagrid you startled me, what have you got there.”

Rubeus- “Well Y/N, says you need a Owl or a Toad or something else as your companion. So I have gotten you a Toad. Here you are, got a name!”

Y/N- “Bao bun, is its name. Cause its cute and adorable.”

Rubeus- “What a lovely name, you too will make great companions.”

*Walking out of Diagon Alley and through the small nook in the back of ‘The Leaky Cauldron’ and into the Pub. Hagrid hands you a piece of paper-

Y/N- “What’s this Hagrid?”

Rubeus- “This is your train ticket for the Hogwarts Express, it has the date and time for you to be their and until then Y/N, good luck. I’ll be seeing you soon, and if you ever need anything, you just write a letter and send an owl, it will know where to go.”

Y/N- “Thank you Hagrid, for all your help and your encouragement!”

*After finishing talking to Hagrid, you hug the big friendly giant. Feeling slightly sad about leaving him. However you know that soon enough you will be seeing him again and entering Hogwarts at last, being HOME!. Noticing your mum and dad over by the entrance of ‘The Leaky Cauldron’, you wave goodbye to Hagrid as you walk over to your mum and dad, smiling wide eyed. Leaving the Pub like none the wiser. Going home seems surreal now, like ‘home’ has never really been ‘home!’. Hogwarts is truly where you want to be and you couldn’t be happier.*
