Scales upon Scales

Scales upon Scales

A Poem by DrSprinkz73

Like in the moments before a snake sheds

I am trapped in a pastel skin of the dead

Writhing to break free from stale air

Yet engulfed by memories that keep me there

Not to be saved by a future because of the coward I became

Nor thrown at a fire to be saved by the flames

Roaming in circles

A revelation!

I started to expect too much when reaching for the stars

It's as if I've spent my whole life behind metaphoricall bars

Maybe the sun shall shine the next day much brighter

I'll remember to hold onto my heart much tighter

Although I miss the way we used to be

I can't ignore the way your evil looks to me
