The five senses

The five senses

A Poem by Dr Poet

Limitation.

I learned this word with its meaning

when I found out my viewpoint

was narrower than the sky.

Contradiction.

I once got tangled up in its weavings

when I realized a truth untold

is heavier than a lie.

Frailty

was the ever sweet-sour feeling

of eventually grabbing defeat

after reaching out to a victory passing by.

Isolation

and its outburst of a dry bleeding

from the gaping cut of surprise

at discovering loneliness

is your only companion for life.

Condemnation.

My condition, and the world with its meaning

were utterly disclosed

when I saw the Saviour

in another homebound mexican

wrecked after labour.

Beautiful form, the 5 senses, lending to a message
of both alienation and connectivity.

Inevitably we are our own judge,
jury, and executioner.

The city can have such an effect;
skewing/altering the body's senses.
But it could be the same way in a
monastery or ashram. Even in the
Arctic Circle.

I love it!

The limitations of humanity have seldom been so wonderfully expressed, or so gently examined. In just a few short sanzas, wisdom, compassion, and unflinching slef-assessment shine through gently, leaving the reader examing his or her own understanding of the themes of which you write. Beautiful!

Insightful, well placed words cut right to the heart of it and still you keep it personal, showing me a glimpse of your reality, your perspective...hard thing to do.

Every so often I read a piece which magnetizes me..
this is such a piece.
So much to learn and ponder within the confines of this space.
Wonderful:)

Interesting read, Dr. Poet. I think it's one you will return to. I'd like to see an end that kind of ties this all together. You have a very recognizable style, which is good.

Yours,
Billy the Kid
