This is the modern world

This is the modern world

A Poem by Dr Poet

Immorality has become so mainstream
that even desire has lost its appeal.
So stop longing for things you have not,
just find glares of sense in what you have got.

There is so much wasted love
at the corner of the streets
yet we keep walking on,
as we leave behind our bits.

Yes, because no one picks them up,
we need treasures to be seen,
but it's only the blind one
who can get what it truly means.

Thus close your eyes and shut your mouth,
try to live as men aware there is something out.
Something to grasp, to take care of,
to preserve from the folly of a world that has lost the plot.

i really really like this, because I think just the same. there's no use in wallowing in negative thoughts and following death paths, it blocks out so many opportunities, which could make us really see what's worth living for.

sadly it's also true that many people only seem to see the much greener grass on the other side, instead of taking care of their own lawn and be proud about what they have achieved. it's a shame that almost all optimism seems to have vanished and that there's hardly any satisfaction in what we are and have anymore. I just hope it's not too late to recollect.

...and I'm rambling. sorry. just let me tell you that you did a very good job in pointing out what so many try to ignore. I really enjoyed reading and thinking about this.
