This Smile of Mine

This Smile of Mine

A Poem by Blake McDuffie

This smile of mine...

Hides a deep pain that you'll never know.
We all wear masks at all times
We hide from our friends, our family and ourselves.
Sometimes it's hard to look into a mirror
Sometimes the pain is too sharp to be contained by a smile

What a wonderful, deep piece. Sometimes it's really stupid hard to be "yourself" isn't it? But then comes the challenge of defining what you really are. I've never really thought about hiding from myself. This poem sure made me think, especially for its length. It's a winner, Blake. Keep it up.
