The Day We DiedA Poem by Blake McDuffieolder poemDid I try and impress you? Life isn’t the fantasy we see Sitting here watching T.V. Did I try to help you? So strange I don’t recall. There is an omnipotent feeling To stop us from healing The wounds we are dealing. Did I try and talk to you? Sorry I’ll just go away. Is rain the tears we cry Wishing we could fly And escape the knowledge that we will die. Do I know your name? From the days I was lost I have been filled with dread Wondering if my thirst will ever be fed Even when I walk with the dead.
Do I know your face? From the days I walked in the rain And here I find your tombstone I will dance all upon your bones But I will still be alone. If I did I’m sorry. I don’t know what came over me © 2008 Blake McDuffieReviews
