Broken Hearts are Easy to Find

Broken Hearts are Easy to Find

A Poem by Blake McDuffie

A love lost

But that’s okay

I probably would have

Hurt you anyway

The poison you gave me

It’s gone bad

No longer effective

The lights burn my eyes

It’s not the tears I shed

One day I will learn

How to sleep again

There is a riot in my mind

But I think it’s the thought of you

I’m not bitter about the loss of you

I just wish you had lost me

Hopefully my heart will not perish

In the grasp of your killing hands

And also forgotten

You broke my heart

The pain of loss... Ouch..

You captured it quite well.

I really liked this, GREAT write. It actually would make a great rock song if you could come up with a chorus....I don't know, just what I thought when I first read it. I'm always being told to change my stuff into lyrics but not so good at it, but this was great....poem or song wise! Keep Writing!!! :)

But not so easily mended.
I'm not bitter about the loss of you
I just wish you had lost me. How we so wish it was the other way around, why couldn't I have broken your heart etc.
Great write at getting some of your emotions across, was there more you wanted to say in this, or is it just me that thinking something might be missing?

I think you might mean "and also forget" in that second to last line - it would flow much better, stay in the same tense, y'know?

okay i'm usually not technical, i just really liked the poem up that point, and then it stumbled.

I loved the first four lines - the i probably would have hurt you anyway -brilliant. and the rhyme scheme there was perfect. but then i enjoyed how you left the rhyme scheme after that and loosened it up a little more.

:) nice job. welcome.

hugs
