What is Life?

What is Life?

A Poem by Blake McDuffie

What is life

But a collection

Of meaningless events

Where people are either

Remembered forever

Or forgotten for eternity.

Death

This is the true life

No one has conquered

This foe

And none can tell us

Of its mysteries.

Do we sleep forever?

Walk a land unknown

To the living?

Is there eternal joy?

Or even damnation?

None know the answers

Except those who are there

And they don’t talk that often.

This was such a good piece.
My favorite part was:
"None know the answers
Except those who are there
And they don't talk that often."
That was such a brilliant line, right there.

i feel like it would have more flow, or something, if you wrote "and they don't talk about it that often". You know what I mean? probably not I'm crazy, just throwing it out there. :)

Also, I think you should make the title something more cliche. Because the poem is better than that - it's not as cliche as one expects it to be. which was a wonderful surprise. :)

nice job, m'dear.

There are answers in the shadows where most men fear to go, and in this poem as well. It provoked thoughts and resonated truth; I enjoyed this piece.
