Dreams

If I can only be with you when I dream

I would wish that I could sleep forever

Staring into your beautiful blue eyes

Wondering why I deserve you

Wishing I had found you earlier

 

Dreaming of  the times we already share

And those countless moments that are still to come

My heart it rejoices at the sound of your voice

And still gets nervous every time you touch my hand

 

I ask myself why you are mine

But realize there is no need to argue over a good thing

The best thing that has happened in my life

 

This new unusual feeling that has reared its head has me in a fluster

It sends my heart in a spiral and throws my mind into a whirlwind

At first I could not name this feeling that is all so new

But now I know what it’s name really is

Trust, trust that comes with the knowledge that I am not a dog

Not a toy, Not an emotional safety net but for once in my life I am an equal and not a plaything
