So Now I'm Old

So Now I'm Old

So now... I'm old.
63 is old.
Too old to be chained to desk or criticism.

Too old to fight the discipline.
Too old to care.
Too old to participate in that game.

Now is the time to play.
Now is the time to have time.
Now is the time to worry about what matters.

So now... I'm old.
63 is old.
The checks come in.

I don't need to wake early.
I chug coffee and forget the clock.
I read what I want when I want.

Now is the time to putter.
Now is the time to move the plants.
Now is the time to learn what I had no time to learn.

So now... I'm old.
63 is old.
63 is old enough.

To find some peace.
To enjoy some time.
To play and relax and laugh with my love.

This is an illuminating piece and I hope you do all those things you speak of because you are still young enough to do them. Now is the time to live how you want without worrying about a clock. Seize life with every smile you have and all the love in your heart. Thank you for sharing your poem.
