You'll Never RememberA Poem by D. P. SumnerThis is a poem I wrote for my son. It's subject to change and it may be posted here temporarily. Enjoy.
You won't recall the way the sun shone
on that wonderous, beautiful day; You'll never know the way that we felt when we first saw your beautiful face. You'll never remember that day in December Or the touch of our first embrace. Your beauty was perfect, unequaled, divine! Unmatched in the human race. You won't recall the first time that you laughed - Your father was so proud of you; And until you grow older, you won't understand How quickly that little boy grew. The harder we tried to hold on to the times The time would only pass swifter, The longer we smiled at your beautiful face The quicker our hearts would grow richer. You'd never remember the day that we found you standing alone in your bed; You'll never know that you came to Mom's rescue when "Mama" was the first word you said. The times that we've weathered will burn forever - A branding, seared deep in our hearts; I'll forever remember that day in December when I first met my little sweetheart. For times will grow older and days will grow shorter And cruel life will demand your regards - But I hope that you'll always remember your parents, For you'll always find love in our hearts. © 2016 D.
