A Warrior's Inner SelfA Poem by Kavern Laurenitis
Blood-red cloaks,
light dark armor. We stand in formation and await the order. Stand firm, brothers! Ready your swords, And ready your shields! With corpses we'll litter these fields! For justice! For all that is right! We'll slaughter their ranks faster than any blight! Bright gold cloaks, heavy light armor. They close in ranks, defending their former. As they grew in size I hadn't realized That they were us, only with a cause so just. They purged us by the hundreds, We murdered them by the thousands. We conquered the mighty, Rulers we were crowned then. In their quest for repentance, they faced their darker selves. We are the subconscious, the shadows of these elves. We unleashed our dark passengers as our bodies hit the floor. We may have won the battle, but ultimately lost the war. © 2011 Kavern Laurenitis |
