Twisted

Twisted

A Story by Doubting Fame
"

Uh, something I wrote while at work.

"

As evening approaches, the bright sunlight dissolves into a burning orange glare. It turns the day’s shadows into twisted creatures, making them lose their original shape. A highway, home to a parking lot of abandoned cars, turns into the beginning of a nightmare. The rusted husks turn into demons, with overgrown grass protruding from various orifices, and groups of frightened birds take flight. A rotting smells wafts off rotting pieces of human paraphernalia that are strewn throughout the pieces of cracked concrete. The few animals that dare to venture onto the highway swiftly slink away when the stench reaches their sensitive nostrils. The shadows of the metal corpses perform a morbid dance as the sun is dragged down into the horizon. They mourn their absent star and the moon makes its way into the sky. They settle as the darkness takes over and the nightmare seeps out of the highway.
