Bottles

Bottles

A Poem by Doublejg

The color of the earth with
A slight transparency.
The hue is simply beautiful.
But, like most of the best things in life,
It is quite bittersweet.

Taking this substance
And swallowing it as a beverage,
Slowly takes away the pain of the day.
The weight of the world that
Constantly lies on the shoulders of a
Crumbling individual suddenly
Feels like a feather.

But be careful
For this substance that you are consuming
Can consume you just as easily.
The ability to fight it is to
Continue consuming it.

A bottle a day
Keeps the monsters away.

A bottle a day just may increase the amount of monsters that have to be battled.

Loved the way you worded this poem.

Yes, but that bottle can also create an altered state of reality for the one consuming.

I liked this piece: "A bottle a day Keeps the monsters away." I immediately thought beer or brown liquor. And the final line clinched that image for me. Thanks for a good read.
