Home.

Home.

A Story by Amekraz

Every person has a place to go to. A home. Not a house. But a home. House is a four walls and a roof, Home is not. A person who has no house can still have a home to go to. Home is a state of mind. The house-less people, I call them like that, have a home in their mind, they feel an inner peace you.. you who are between the four walls have probably never felt. The harmony they feel within themselves is something walls and roofs can't bring. You can't be home when every night you come to your corner shivering and can't bear the person living inside you. You feel the walls around you but  the walls are cold and the roof is trembling and waiting for a chance to fall upon you. But every man should have a home, “for every man must have somewhere to turn”, it's indispensable. A wife can be a home, a book can be a home, a wine bottle can be a home, the society can be a home and the society should be a home for everyone.

The sinners could find home in the holy places or in reading scriptures and believing that there is always a way for the wrong-doer. But let's try to put ourselves in the shoes of the evildoer, someone who did something really awful. How his family is looking at him, house is no home for him, the society will reject him for sure, no place to go, no friends... How is that person supposed to endure this and live with it? In a quote attributed to Fyodor Dostoevsky, he says: “Nothing is easier than to denounce the evil doer; Nothing more difficult than understanding him.” The society didn't give him the chance to express his feelings or the reasons behind what he did or maybe to apologize. The society rejected him because he is a threat for  its “peace”. The irony! Forsaking him will just bring more war and crimes. It's really easy to denounce him, but we all are evildoers in a way or another, we just hide and show only the perfect image of us. All the trouble we see comes from the way we deal with the persons who transgressed a law. Don't you think that this “evil” person is torturing himself every minute? That he is fretting himself with a lot of questions? Isn't that enough? Why do you still staring at him with a contemptuous look? He is just like you, but his evilness rose up while yours is still veiled.

The sick people are often rejected too. Some of them find home in books, yes books bring them joy, or find amusement in being alone in the beach meditating or maybe being with friends who may accept their company. Some others can't find home in this society so they live like recluses and start to form suicidal thoughts. The root of all evil is there. When the society is not there for the wrongdoers and sick people, then we start to see felonies and suicides. we all witnessed this. We all saw how sinners are treated, how those who don't accept the others beliefs are criminalized, how sick people are mocked... So mocked!
