Yet Another EveningA Poem by Sanjukta Sen Banerjee
Sun, post a day's toil
Strolls down the horizon To roost behind the hut Last rays of light Disagree to leave Like sullen faced children Driven home from play Lonely Venus appears Perhaps too early For the show Or waiting patiently For lady love To appear in grandure For those coveted hours Of wine and dance Glances, smiles, kisses, whispers The sky quietens As nests fill up And landscape wraps itself In the cloak of obscurity Its the hour for all To return and reflect To retire and refill The sun contented Light , eager for tomorrow Venus in anticipation Alas that's not the story Of urban spiders Caught in their own web Of metropolitan life As the clock Draws down shutters Over another day Was it really another day ? Or just a clone of yesterday? Replicas of disenchanted living Neither full with today Nor hungry for tomorrow Finding not a shelter From frowns and fret Not an inspiration To ponder and rejuvenate It is just the hour For the wheel of life To finish another identical turn © 2015 Sanjukta Sen BanerjeeReviews
