Without Antlers

Without Antlers

A Chapter by Stu. T.H.

Haunted by loss,
Possessed by envy,
The desire to be gone
Lost to the urge to claim.
Over the green grass hill, I see two deer,
One without antlers, one without ears.
One went hiding whilst the other was riding.
One sought solace and found none,
The other died while striving.
The two met before, but never more.
Tasteless imagery, my eyes are deceiving me,
Yet every time I close my eyes,
I felt myself without antlers,
And head-hunted by hollow shadows,
And the grass has turned gold grey.
