Sonnet: Tombstone Carnation

Sonnet: Tombstone Carnation

A Sonnet and a monologue

"Sonnet: Pitifully Naive - Tombstone Carnation

Not everyone deserves happiness,
But I'm not foolish enough to reject it,
Not everyone desires happiness,
But I know I'm nothing without it,

In a silent tomb,
Where no bird would chirp on,
There, a flower blooms,
One that none would look upon,

But the flower is a beautiful one,
More beautiful than the greatest beauty,
But it is also a fragile one,
So fragile that it can't endure cruelty,

Then why had it chosen such a place to bloom?
Why must you, my dear, join my empty tomb?"

- Dan Rastley

...

My Tarot card, today, is The Eight of Swords -- Signifying Blind Trust and Constraint...

Such wasted efforts from me to heed the words of a little-knowing lass whom I've just met mere days ago.

A vigorous young lass... I almost envy her youth but more so her naivety.

And to think I was charmed enough to take her advice... such was the depth of depravity to intelligence itself.

"When I am uncertain, I use Tarot cards to ease my worries, you see", and she suggested me to do the same.

But this result is almost detestable.

This was her logic. So does that mean according to her, even the despicable Fate itself, is telling me to open my eyes? That is, to accept the half-baked assistance from the uncaring bunch?

... Foolishness!

Pitiful me, but more so pitiful thee. Your masterpiece -- That is my Tragedy -- Fate, would never come to be.

But even if I had gone along with thy will. What is there to see?

All I have is old cabinets -- Withered flowers, and dusted desks. Futile. Even my papers have rotted away long ago.

Futile... There is nowhere else for me to be. Beside this rusted home. Here, you rats sing my melancholy.

And I will again, today, drown myself in depravity.

Do you know why, pesky rats?

... Because not all tombstones deserve a flower to be raised upon them, not all people deserve wishes. Nor do I need advice on how to live my life, and end it.

~~ Good day!
