The One I Never Had

The One I Never Had

A Poem by Donald Foggitt

When you came into my life
I thought you wouldnt stay
I thought you were just another one
That just lasts for a couple of days

To my suprise you stuck with me
And all my secret pain
You made me feel myself again
You made me a bit more sane

Then came the day I told you just
The way I felt inside
I had to tell you I coulnt take it
My feelings I couldnt hide

The time I spent with you
Was literally heaven to me
I felt I was on cloud number 9
There was nowhere else Id rather be

All I want is for you to see
That Id go all the way and try,
To make you happy forever more
For you I would die

You'll never know just how much you mean
You really changed my ways
You'll always be here in my heart
Until the end of days.

But still I keep my head up high
No use in being sad
I know deep down in my heart
Youre the one I never had

My interpretation is that the 'you' is a fantasy to keep the writer sane. Not sure that is correct on my part ?

The poem speaks to brave and earnest love we all have in abundance but sometimes (or often) we lack the appropriate 'receiver'.

Perfect and kind words for love.
"All I want is for you to see
That Id go all the way and try,
To make you happy forever more
For you I would die "
The above lines are true. We shall die for love. Thank you for sharing the excellent poetry.
