Opened Eyes

Opened Eyes

A Poem by Donald Foggitt

Sometimes it feels as though That nobody else is there That life sometimes just feels That nothing is really fair Those things we really need And without we cannot live Are the things the others have And are not willing to give In silence we go on Just as though we do not care But inside we're slowly dying Drowning in despair We wear our masks and carry on Until that promised day That we will get just what we want That things will go our way All of a sudden we open our eyes And see whats actually there That there are many people Who really actually care Our hate subsides and disappears The longer that we feel The things other people do That what they feel is real In life we cannot just assume To know just what will be Its not our job to drown ourselves But to rather set us free
