Once Upon A Time, we lived in a beautiful world. Everyone was nice, helpful, and loved one another. No wars or fighting. No pain or suffering. Police officers were there to help and keep the community safe.
To bad we don't live in a fairy tale!
THE END!
Oh so true. As a society we have lost our respect for each other and that comes from discipline but our laws are floundering and drugs play a major part as does no jobs etc. a nice write to ponder on where it all went wrong.
I am sorry that beautiful world gave way to an ugly, heartless and divided one. I can feel your regret as we have our own share of tragic things in our corner of the globe. Human grief is the same everywhere and it unites us all, ultimately. I hope we regain something close to that Utopia some day.
What a precious use of words, unselfish, giving, sharing.. the You offering the best things. And then, best of linguistic best, you give that final phrase. Brilliantly clever.. unexpected and more, Donna. Dear heart this writing is special, ' Once Upon A Time, we lived in a beautiful world.'
I love that you're back at the cafe & I hope you stay! I love your point of view & your straightforward way of writing! This reminds me of how I'm gearing up my mind to get started on my next book, which will be about riding my bicycle across the USA when I was 32. I'm thinking about naming it: "The America I Remember" . . . being on the road, night & day, a woman riding alone . . . it felt as safe as being in my home. America really impressed me during that ride & I want to try to show all the little details of how it felt to instantly believe in everyone I met, without fear or prejudice (in me or them). I know exactly what you're longing for in this poem (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

I remember as a kid, we would play outside till the street lights went on, that meant it was time to go home for dinner. We had no worries! I look forward to reading your book. I know it will be a great story of you riding your bike across the United States alone. Take care, Donna
