Bobby's StoryA Story by DonnaThis is a story about a young boy named Bobby who finds out that he was adopted. He wants to know who his Mother is.A young couple desperately wanted to have a baby. After three years, they started to give up. The decided to look into adoption. They made an appointment at the local adoption agency. The walked in the adoption agency and went to the front desk, "Hi, I am Joe and this is my wife Lisa Moore, we have an appointment today." They both sat down and waited. A woman came out of an office, "Mr. & Mrs. Moore, please come into my office. I am Ms. Johnson and I will be your worker, please have a seat." Ms. Johnson explained the process to them, and they decided to go ahead with it. They did so much paperwork and took a background check, now they just wait to hear from Ms. Johnson. It was about three weeks later when Ms. Johnson called them to come to her office. They were so nervous and excited. This could be good news or bad news. When they arrived, they walked to the front desk, and then they saw Ms. Johnson. "Hi there, please come on in." she said. They went in the office and sat down holding hands. "I'm sure you want to know what is going on? I wont keep it from you any longer, We have a one year old boy for you if your interested? The only thing is that he is Chicago, Illinois at our other adoption agency. You will have to go pick him up on your own." Mr. Moore said, "Can we go now? We are ready." She gave them the address and made the call to Chicago to let them know that they would be picking Bobby up. Joe and Lisa rushed home, got on the phone to find the first flight they could get, then they headed for the airport. On the plane they sat there smiling and talking about what a great life they will give Bobby. Finally they land in Chicago, and rush to get a cab, Joe hands the driver the address. It was a twenty minute drive, seemed like forever. They hurried into the adoption agency, Joe told them,"We are here to pick up Bobby, we are the Moore's from California." Just then the door in the back opened and a woman comes out with a little boy, it was Bobby. He was the cutest child I ever seen, dark brown hair and dark eyes. He could walk a little bit and talk to. They handed Bobby to them and told them, "Congratulations." They headed back to the airport, Bobby was such a happy boy. The airplane was on time, the flight seemed long because they were all tired, but they finally made it home. The first thing they did was sit on the floor with Bobby and give him his new toys, He loved it, he played and laughed till he fell asleep. Lisa put him to bed in his new room. FAST FORWARD TO NINE YEARS LATER..... After school Bobby walked home and told his Mom that they were doing a project at school and he has to bring in a photo of himself when he was first born. His Mom said, "Ok sweety, after dinner we will look through the family album." The dishes were done and Bobby & his Mom sat down and looked through the album, she pointed to one, but Bobby said, "Mom, it has to be when I was first born." They kept looking, "Bobby, why don't you go to bed and I will find one for you and give it to you in the morning?" Lisa went to talk with Joe and told him what was going on. Joe said, "Lisa, I think he is old enough now that we can tell him he was adopted." She agreed. In the morning, the first thing Bobby asked for was the picture. His Mom told him to sit down, "I need to talk to you son, the reason I don't have any pictures of you when you were first born is because your Dad & I adopted you when you were one year old." Bobby ran out of the house. Bobby kept running as the tears rolled down his face, once he got to the park he sat down on the bench. He was thinking, Why did my Mom give me up? Where am I from? Who am I? After awhile, a lady walked up to the bench and sat down, "Are you ok son?" Bobby looked up at her, but didn't say anything. "My name is Deanna, when I am upset or sad, it helps me to talk about it. I am a good listener." Bobby looked at her again, "I just found out that I was adopted." Deanna waited a few minutes then said, "I was adopted to when I was young. I had wonderful parents who loved me and cared for me." Bobby explained to her that he wanted to know his Mother and why she gave him up. "I don't even know your name?" She said. "My name is Bobby." "Look Bobby, I know you are confused and want answers, but you might never know the answers, try to be happy with the parents that you have." Bobby thought about it for a minute then told Deanna, "I better get home now, bye Deanna." When Bobby got home he asked his Mom if she knew anything about his parents. She didn't, but she told him that she would call the adoption agency and see if they could tell her anything. Bobby smiled. The next day while Bobby was in school, Lisa called the adoption agency and asked for information, they told her it was confidential. She begged them, the lady told her that she would be able to give her Bobby's Mothers name, but it would take a couple days and she would call her as soon as she finds it.
Summer was just about here, and it was the last day of school. After school was out, Bobby headed home, his house was a 10 minute walk, he took a short cut through the park when he saw Deanna sitting on the bench. Bobby yelled out, "Deanna, hi." He ran over to her. She said, "You are sure happy today." Bobby told her that it was summer vacation. Deanna told Bobby, "I know you will have a great summer. I wanted to tell you that I am going home tomorrow, so I wont see you anymore. I was just visiting and its time for me to go. I am glad we got to meet." Bobby looked sad. He hugged her goodbye and ran home. He couldn't figure out why he was crying. He wiped his tears, then went outside to play. Weeks went by and Bobby was having so much fun playing and swimming at a friends house and sleep overs, he forgot all about being adopted. Today is Bobby's eleventh birthday and he is so excited, he told his Mom he was going to see if his friends were outside. He couldn't find anyone, so he walked to the park, nobody there either. Then he noticed something, over on the bench was a red balloon with a card on it. Bobby walked over there and opened the card. "Happy Birthday Bobby, Love Deanna. Bobby looked around, he couldn't figure it out. Bobby took the card and balloon and put it in his bedroom. His Mom was going to the store to get party supplies, and Bobby stayed home to watch TV. The phone rang, he doesn't answer it, he lets the answering machine get it. "Hello, this call is for Mrs. Moore, I am Ms. Smith and you requested some information on an adoption, I do have the name of Bobby's Mother, her name is Deanna Davis, and she passed away the day after Bobby was born." Bobby just sat there. He thought to himself, "Deanna? It cant be Deanna at the park, who is she then? My Mom is dead." Bobby ran to his room and read his card from Deanna again. The end read, Love Deanna-Mom. Bobby smiled! © 2018 DonnaReviews
