Precious MemoriesA Story by DonnaThis is about my Uncle John and my childhood memories that are precious to me.
I have wonderful childhood memories of my Uncle John. He lived 8 hours away from us with my Aunt & two cousins.
We would go visit them on vacation. I loved being there. My Uncle sold insurance for a living and I always wanted to be his secretary when I got big. He would bring home from work, pens & paper for me. I would sit and pretend I was working and making appointment s for him. One morning he was leaving for work, he told me that after work he was going to the record store and he would buy me any 45 record that I want. I was so excited. I thought about it, then decided. I told him, "Uncle John, I would like the record, Crocodile Rock by Elton John." I waited for him to come home. I couldn't wait for my new record. When he got home, I ran to the car and he handed it to me, he even bought the plastic thing that goes in the middle of the 45. I hugged and kissed him. I ran to the record player and played my record over and over and over. I'm sure some of you reading this won't know what a 45 record is or the plastic thing that goes in the middle. Life was so simple in those days and so much fun. My Uncle John passed away a few years back and I miss him. He was such a kind man. I have these precious memories that I cherish!
