My Gift of Love

An entry for a contest.

It has been 11 years since she came
into my life. I never knew how much love
a dog could give, such devotion, affection,
goodness.
She was there for me through good & bad.
Always made me happy when I was sad.
My life was not good at that time and she
was not being treated right.
She has the innocence of a child
that wants to be loved.
Now she is 11 and getting older.
We can't play ball like we used to,
but that is ok.
She has arthritis in her legs
and she sleeps a lot more.
She was diagnosed with cancer, the
Vet said it is a very fast spreading
cancer and gave her 4-6 weeks to live.
It has been 7 months now and
there are no signs of the cancer.
I thank God for her everyday.
I love her and take care of her and I will be with her till the end.
She is a gift of love and it is the best
gift ever!

I see you with your Pitbull. Lovely. Growing up in Nigeria we had dogs. It's quite common there for security reasons mainly but we loved them. They become part of the family. I aways loved animals. I have a friend who had a pet monkey in those days. I thought that was so cool. They are very energetic. Now I have a cat though. She's indoor/outdoor and she loves being outdoors which is good for her. I encourage it because she maintains her wild side that way. Had her 11 years now since she was a little kitten. She's still very active.. even tho she sleeps a lot lol. Would love to have a dog or dogs again someday.. we'll see. Anyway I understand the love you speak of. Great write.

Yes they do become a part of your family. She is my whole life. Its so hard to watch her getting older. I had a cat once and she was great, then I got my dog and the love is amazing! Thank you for the nice review!
