This is a true story! I would like to know what your thoughts are about the sentencing, and the whole sick story?
I have an Aunt named Ann and her daughter, my cousin is Amy. After many years of marriage, Aunt Ann decided to divorce my Uncle. Ann met many men and dated even more. She married a few of them, but it never lasted long.
My Aunt Ann's brother got into some big
trouble with the law and he had to spend
a few years in prison. Ann would visit him as often as she could.
On one of the visits, Ann noticed the man at the next table. He was a handsome, middle aged man. They exchanged looks and smiles. This went on for months, then
one visit they talked. Ann said it was love at first sight.
This man was an inmate named Tony, he was serving time for 23 counts of sexual abuse on his own children. His release date was coming up.
Once Tony was released, they were married. They seemed very happy. Four years go by and they are still together.
Ann's daughter Amy was pregnant with her first child. Everyone was so excited. Amy had a beautiful baby girl named, Amanda.
Amy stayed home with the baby for 8 weeks, then she had to return to work. She asked her Mother to babysit for her.
Everything was going fine, a year had gone by already. Ann had to go grocery shopping so she left Amanda with Tony.
Everyday Ann had places to go, so Tony would baby sit for her.
One night before bed, Amy was changing Amanda and notice her girl parts all red. She didn't tell anyone about this.
The next day, she took her to the doctor and he confirmed that Amanda was being sexually abused.
Amy went to the police and Tony was arrested immediately. Since he had priors, he was sentenced to life in prison, no possibility of parole. Ann divorced him shortly after this.
I can relate to almost every detail in your story, since I was regularly raped as a young child & also I spent a couple years corresponding with various prisoners, long ago. In my experience, male prisoners are usually going to con women into romantic situations to use them for further exploitation. You've told your story in a bare-bones way here, which works for the starkness of what happened. But also you could flesh this story out with more details & dialogue, to show us more about the personalities of these people who you now present as somewhat one-dimensional. If you're wondering if this is a worthwhile story to pursue & expand, I say FOR SURE! It's very difficult to break out of the minimal telling of such stories, becuz it makes people cringe to experience the full detailed account. I've often had to force myself to include more details & more imagery when I write about my own experiences. I would prefer to just state the facts, as you've done here. If you ever continue to flesh out this story, feel free to let me know, becuz I'd love to see what you do with it (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

What a terrible thing to happen. I hope the baby was alright, but the memory and 'scars' will remain with Amy and Ann, probably for life. The man went to prison. Yes, indeed he had to. BUT, I just wish that somehow these men could be treated and cured. (by some sort of psychotherapy?) so that they do NOT reoffend, when they come out. Poor Ann, she had loved this man. I wonder how she is dealing with her own emotions?

Do you think Ann should of been charged for giving the baby to him knowing he is a sex offender?

I think she gave him the benefit of the doubt and saw him a s a human man. Love is blind, even foolish, some say! Perhaps she could have got him some therapy before he reoffended yet again?

If something happened to my baby like that I would be mortified. The stab wound would be so deep. I think I would probably go into a state of shock. But I have heard from people who have been subjected to this HORRIBLE abuse, who do find it easier to bear (after they has wished the perpetrator to burn in Hell) that if you can understand that this man has a psychological problem, it is easier to accept what has happened. Afterall, we can't change it , once it has been done. But I know, in our country, sex-abusers go on and on re-offending, whereas in some Scandanavian countries, they seem to nip it in the bud, somehow. Do you know, if anything like that happened to my daughter, I would probably say 'God, I can't cope with this ... over to you, Lord.' Bless you, Donna.
It's truly truly shameful as it's real. It indicates how disgusting and ruthless someone can be and stoop so low!!
Donna you're brave more than enough to share this incident with us.
Almighty bless ylu!
