A Poem by Donna DeLong Matthews aka Gold Pen Ghost

What Am I To Do

God I come to you
once again on bended knee
I don't understand
What are you trying to tell me

Is this a test
Of my unconditional love
Or is it a warning
Being sent from above

I'm not trusting in myself
To know what to do now
I don't understand
You've got to let me know somehow

Is this a test
Of my resistance
Or a sign
Of my needed forgiveness

Oh my precious Savior
I'm in such a weakened state
emotionally unable
to decide my own fate

Some would say
Don't follow your heart
It was badly betrayed
Except at the very start

To be smart
Remember your pain
To listen to the heart
There will be no gain

But is it not in my heart
Where You live and belong
Is that not where your voice
Is heard so strong

I'm not the smartest you know
I need a bolt of blue
I'm at your feet begging
What am I to do

Dear Donna,

I feel this is one of your deepest poems. It plumbs the depths of your understanding and faith. A beautiful work to
which almost everyone can relate. Rarely have I seen you achieve this balance of seeking and questioning. I don't think
doubt comes into play here, but there is powerful questioning of the human sort. This is pleading for understand if there
is a devine purpose of which we are not aware.

Really, great stuff. So human and a humble questioning of what is going on around us.

This is probably one of your finest works. I'm glad to have read it.

Very kindest of regards,

Rick

Hello Donna,
1stly, this has an awesome picture in the beginning with a very solid message. 2ndly, I believe you have asked the One above all the same questions anyone has that has been betrayed by someone dear to them and doubt themselves in how to move on with their life.I think this is a very moving piece you have shared with us and enjoyed it very much. Please keep up the great work.
